The Australian Open has released a new app for iPad that provides the ultimate digital destination for fans.
Developed by Australian Open technology partner IBM, the free app allows fans to get behind their favourite players and directly tweet messages of support from the player profiles.
Fans can receive notifications on the progress of their favourite players and track how popular players are trending through IBM social sentiment analysis, which highlights the current percentage of positive tweets about each player.
Editor’s picks will be available daily along with a Player Watch segment with exclusive player videos.
Other features included are:
- Live point-by-point scoring updates and completed match results
- Latest news updates from the tournament
- Schedules and completed draws for men’s, women’s and doubles fields
- Videos and photos
- Detailed player profiles
- Live play-by-play coverage of main draw matches from a team of international broadcasters on AO Radio
"Fans are demanding as much information as possible to better connect with their favourite players,” said Sponsorship Manager for IBM Australia, Angela Gallo.
“We have worked with Tennis Australia to develop an iPad app that not only delivers the latest news from the courts, but also has additional social media features that use IBM analytics to track fan sentiment for players instantly.”
The iPad app adds to an exciting array of digital products for fans to keep connected to Melbourne Park throughout the tournament.
