Pauline Parmentier

French players Pauline Parmentier and Lucas Pouille have been awarded wildcards into the main draw of Australian Open 2014.

As part of an reciprocal arrangement between Tennis Australia, the French Tennis Federation and the United States Tennis Association, one man and one woman are granted a wildcard into each country’s respective Grand Slam tournament.

Parmentier, 27, has never advanced past the third round of a major, reaching the second round in Melbourne in 2008. Currently ranked 229, Parmentier reached a high of 40 in 2008 and spent most of the 2013 season nursing a right shoulder injury. She did play the 2013 Australian Open, losing in the first round to Olga Govortsova in three sets.

Pouille, 19, is currently ranked 204 on the ATP World Tour and has played mostly on the ATP Challenger circuit. He was granted a wildcard into the 2013 French Open where he reached the second round, losing to Grigor Dimitrov.
